In layer farming there is the use of antibiotics growth promoters which are being used form the past decades to improve the health and growth of the poultry. The level of antibiotics in the poultry feed have increases the feed efficiency and growth. But the recent ban on the use of poultry antibiotics in the feed bend the way of farmers and producer to go for other substitutes. With this the use of poultry herbal supplement and feed additives are now in trending. The use of antibiotics can affect the gastrointestinal tract and affect the nutritional value. There are some of the factors which affect the intestinal micro-environment like pH, substrate availability, redox potential, toxins and antibodies. The presence of toxic material in the feed increases the pH level and disturb the microflora of the gut and makes it acidic and it occurs when the acid producing microbes is multiplied. Reducing the acid producing bacteria with the help of feed acidifier can help in lowering the pH level and the reduce the multiplication of harmful bacteria. Generally, feed acidifiers are acids included in the poultry feed in order to lower the acidic and pH level of the feed, gut thus inhibiting the growth of pathogenic gastrointestinal microflora.
