Mycotoxins are implicated as agents that can cause acute and chronic diseases in poultry. They are responsible for huge economic loss in poultry farming by negatively affecting the health and performance of poultry birds. Nearly 300-400 types of mycotoxins are available but based on the effect on health and toxicity and occurrence, aflatoxin, deoxynivalenol (DON or vomitoxin), zearalenone, fumonisin, T2 toxin, and T2 like toxins (trichothecenes) are concerned. Mycotoxin produce a wide range of harmful effect in poultry and reduce its productivity, immunosuppression, damage to vital organs. Excess quantity of toxins in the body can cause death. In general no poultry feed are free from mycotoxin. There is presence of one mycotoxin in the feed. These toxins are fungus or bacteria which grows on the feed and it is caused due to improper storage, temperature, humidity etc. With the addition of toxin binder in the contaminated feed is considered as the most promising approach to reduce the ill effect of toxins on the body. The binder decontaminates the toxins in the feed by binding them and prevent the toxin interaction with the metabolism and prevent toxin absorption across the digestive intestinal tract.
